DONALD CHARLES FORSCHLER

On October 6, 2014 Donald C. Forschler passed on and joined his beloved bride Martha Jane in the hereafter.

Donald was known as “Yank or Yankee”, being of northern descent and a die hard Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

He met a lovely Texas girl named Martha Jane who became his bride. He thus became a citizen of Texas and was forced to watch Dallas Cowboy games rather than Bears games.

Becoming a grandfather, then great-grandfather were the greatest joys of his life- as revealed by the photos of him with his family. Donald was renowned for his sharp wit, sharp tongue and general orneriness which was all in fun. He liked to comment on events and people and make us laugh as he laughed at himself, too. He liked bumper stickers and he liked to wear caps, especially those with an emblem or a message. He did not like trees, especially sweet gum and pine trees which also seemed to not like him. He had several not-so good encounters with trees over the years and came to avoid them as much as possible.

He loved aviation and could be found either working on and piloting aircraft his entire life. Growing up in Austin with a partially built airplane in the yard was a natural thing for Bill and Sherri.

He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa OK and worked as an aircraft mechanic for Trans Texas Airways which grew to became Texas International Airlines; a little airline that wanted to grow some more so it ate Continental Airlines, which was recently eaten by United Airlines. He retired from Continental 19 years ago and went to live on a private airport with his own little airplanes in the “big city of Cleveland Texas” as he called it. In the difficult years after the passing of his beloved bride, he was sustained by the love of his family and the friendships of those he had previously worked with and the new friends who helped him play with airplanes. You all know who you are. He loved getting together for “icee’s” on Wednesday nights. He traveled a lot and most recently enjoyed a trip to Russia accompanied by his grandson Donald. He smiled at the confusion caused by having two Donald Forschler’s on travel itineraries.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Donald George Forschler, his mother Dorothy Mae Forschler Brown, his stepfather William Brown, and his lovely bride, Martha Jane Peacock and his brother David G. Forschler.

He leaves behind his son Bill Forschler, daughter Sherri Forschler, daughter-in-law Susan Coyle Forschler, son-in-law John Wright, grandchildren Donald K. Forschler, Bonnie A. Forschler Beasley and James V. Forschler, grand son-in-law Jason Beasley, great grand-daughters Trinity Jane and Jaden.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Conroe Funeral Directors.
